Priority News - Electricity Rates for Ontario Customers

Here you will find information on the most current electricity rates for customers living in Ontario. The prices below will be updated every time there is a price change.

Regulated Price Plan (RPP) or Tiered Pricing

As discussed in previous articles, the majority of Priority customers (and residents living in multi-unit buildings) in Ontario are on the RPP/Tiered price plan. The Tiered price plan works where residents can use a certain amount of electricity PER MONTH at one price, and if they pass that threshold during the same month, they pay a higher price. Prices typically change every May 1 and Nov 1. Below are the current Tiered rates:

Winter (Nov 1-Apr 30)

  • Up to 1,000 kWh——————-10.3 ¢/kWh
  • More than 1,000 kWh———-12.1 ¢/kWh

Time of Use (TOU)

Currently Priority has only two buildings that we meter and bill on the TOU price plan. TOU pricing offers different rates, at different times of the day. Electricity rates are less when demand is low because Ontario can then use a steady stream of low-cost electricity sources. There are three TOU price periods per week day:

  • Off- Peak - when electricity demand is lowest
  • Mid-Peak - when demand for electricity is moderate
  • On-Peak - when demand for electricity is at it’s highest (the busiest time of day)

Like the Tiered plan, rates for TOU typically change every May 1 and Nov 1. Below are the current prices for TOU:

  • Off-Peak (Weekdays 7pm to 7am + all day on Weekends and Holidays)—————8.7 ¢/kWh
  • Mid-Peak (Weekdays 11am to 5pm)——————————————————————13.2 ¢/kWh
  • On-Peak (Weekdays 7am-11am and 5pm-7pm)———————————————18.0 ¢/kWh
