Ontario’s electricity rates have increased 103% since 2008. Based on these rising costs, many buildings can expect to see an increase in their maintenance budgets that are well above the rate of inflation. Through electric suite metering, property managers can offset these increasing costs in both multi-residential and commercial buildings.
What is electric metering?
Electric suite metering allows for the measurement of electricity used in individual units.
Property managers can then identify and compare the usage of individual residents and charge for electricity based on their actual usage.
What are the benefits?
- Increased building value
- Decreased operating costs
- Billing accuracy
- Individual billing
- LEED certification credits
- ‘User pay’ system
How does it work?
Meters are installed in the electrical closets in the hallways. Once they are activated, the meters are remotely read and usage data is collected for billing purposes and collecting consumption data for each unit.
Priority then produces and sends accurate invoices to the residents and tenants.
